The post-truth war on climate action
Approximately half of Australians believe renewable energy is more expensive and more unreliable than fossil fuels. These ‘beliefs’ show that the public are not merely divided on the benefits of the clean energy transition, but rather, half the population is fundamentally misinformed. Democracy can only function effectively when democratic debates are grounded in objective reality. In this talk, I will describe how public knowledge has been deliberately and systematically undermined by the war on climate action, a war fought to delay climate action and extend the life of fossil fuels.
