Can Body Positivity Survive Ozempic?
Can body positivity survive in a world where thinness is becoming pharmaceutical? From Ozempic headlines to TikTok transformations, weight loss drugs are rapidly reshaping how we think about bodies, health, stigma and self-worth. While GLP-1 medications promise life-changing benefits for many people, they are also reviving difficult questions about appearance ideals, diet culture and the pressure to be thin. This talk explores how the rise of injectable weight loss drugs is changing body image for everyone, not just those taking them, and asks what happens to the body positivity movement when society suddenly has a new way to pursue thinness.
