Miscarriages of justice and how are they exposed

How do "the little people” fight against injustice when they system is resourced to best satisfy the “public interest”.  What does the public interest choose to as sacrificial lambs for the “greater good”. In my experience defending persons accused of crimes, the silent miscarriages needs to also be a powerful "public interest “.  My three examples include 19 years in prison for murder (Henry Keogh), a charge of attempted murder where the accused was rendered a quadriplegic and a charge of manslaughter of a best friend.
