The four-way intersection: Bias, journalism, true crime and empathy

Everyone is biased. Everyone. Whether you realise it or not, you carry with you ingrained opinions and beliefs formed by your environment, your upbringing and your experiences. That's not automatically a bad thing - but how do you put those biases aside to consider new, challenging and even uncomfortable information? For the co-creators and co-hosts of the Just Lawful Podcast, challenging their biases is a weekly, if not daily occurrence. How has Sean worked at this over the past 25 years of his journalism career - and how is Daniel coping with it now, as the show moves into its third season? Which cases and concepts have proven the most difficult, which biases just won't shake, and why is it so important to recognise and step past one's own biases anyway?
