From clicks to craving: how the digital food environment shapes what we eat

What is the digital food environment and how does it impact our dietary behaviours? Digital platforms such as Uber Eats and online grocery shopping have become an increasingly prominent part of our daily lives, and these technologies are changing the way we interact with food. This talk will reveal how digital platforms can influence our attitudes towards food and shape our food choices. We will explore the positive and negative consequences of social media on public health and discuss some practical tips for navigating the digital food environment. By the end of this talk, you will have a better understanding of how the digital food environment can influence our diets and be better equipped to make healthy food choices in the digital age.

Bio

Dr Rajshri Roy is a New Zealand Registered Dietitian with a PhD in public health nutrition and a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the University of Auckland. Her research concentrates on digital marketing and social media opportunities for dietary behaviour change. She is focused on exploring the intersection of social media, food marketing and health promotion to motivate long-term change.
