Clinical and cultural: approaches to healing and empowerment
For thousands of years Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have held their own holistic understandings of health and wellbeing, which expands beyond body and mind to encompass deep connections with culture, family, community, Country and spirit. Many mental health supports and services don’t reflect these complex and interrelated connections. Hear insights from a pilot program led by the Aboriginal Health Council of WA, which brings together clinical and cultural knowledge to provide a culturally centred, holistic and flexible approach to strengthening the social and emotional wellbeing of First Nations people.
