Why emotions at work are everyone’s business
We're working longer hours, under more pressure, and burning out at rates that are hard to ignore. While the fixes on offer, from mindfulness apps to mental health days, help at the margins, what if part of the fix is something we're already doing every single day?
Hannah Kunst studies emotion regulation at work. Not how we manage our own feelings, but how we manage other people's. Her research shows this has profound consequences for wellbeing, relationships, and workplace culture. Small changes in how we show up for each other ripple a lot further than we'd expect.
Bio
Hannah Kunst is a Lecturer in Leadership and Organisational Behaviour at the University of Sydney Business School, where her research sits at the intersection of emotions, wellbeing, and what actually happens between people at work. She is particularly interested in what it costs us to regulate other people's feelings, and what it does to our health, our relationships, and the organisations we work in. She's passionate about research that translates into practice, and works with health districts and organisations across NSW to make that happen. Her work is increasingly hard to ignore in a world where burnout has gone from buzzword to crisis.
