Not just jokes: how misogyny online is shaping teen culture
Join Dr Claire Meehan as she takes a deep dive into teenagers’ digital culture, exploring the darker side of social media and the online world.
In this thought-provoking talk, Claire will examine the relationship between technology, young people and their sexual lives, with a particular focus on the rise in visibility of online misogyny and how it is shaping teen culture in New Zealand. She’ll also look at the government's proposed social media ban for people under 16 and explain why it is unlikely to address misogyny.
