Technology helping to feed the world
Technology is transforming how the world produces food. Autonomous machinery, precision sensors, AI crop monitoring and genetic improvements are all helping farmers grow more with less environmental impact. Drawing on real examples from Australian agriculture and beyond, this talk will discuss how automation, robotics and clever design are helping farming stay productive and adaptable in the face of a changing climate, labour shortages and rising demand for food.
Bio
Wesley Moss is a lecturer across UWA’s School of Agriculture and Environment and School of Engineering. As an agricultural engineer, he builds technology that makes farming more sustainable – from machinery design and AI to smarter ways of managing crops and weeds. He is also the Ag Tech Theme Lead at UWA's Centre for Engineering Innovation. Wesley is passionate about showing agriculture is anything but low-tech, and works with primary, secondary and tertiary students to promote all things Ag Tech.
