Biohacks won't save you, but food might

Longevity has been colonised by biohackers. The podcasters, the supplement stacks, the cold plunges, the red light panels. Living longer can feel like a project that requires a dedicated budget and a willingness to suffer. But what does the actual research say?

Shadia Djakovic works inside one of the world's leading longevity research groups. Her message is simple: the most powerful interventions aren't the flashiest. She explores the evidence on prolonged fasting, personalised nutrition, and plant-based eating, and makes the case that simple, evidence-based habits are likely to outlast every trend.

Bio

Shadia Djakovic is a Specialist Dietitian and Research Support Lead at the University of Sydney Charles Perkins Centre, where she works within Professor Luigi Fontana's internationally recognised Healthy Longevity Research Group. She supports clinical trials investigating the effects of prolonged fasting, personalised nutrition, and the links between what we eat, inflammation, and how we age. She also co-leads hands-on nutrition and cooking workshops at the Centre, because she believes knowing what to eat is only half the battle.
