GI JAne - Women on the front line

Australia is one of only 15 nations in the world that allows female soldiers to serve in frontline combat roles. Why do so many countries keep women out of these positions and why do some nations make the decision to allow women to serve in combat? Megan will discuss some of the common arguments and myths associated with women and military duty - from physical standards to fears about menstruating women attracting sharks. She will also talk about recent developments, both within Australia and the United States, on women serving in direct combat, including two women who recently graduated from Ranger School in the US, and the current Australian Defense Force plan to integrate women.
