During the formation of the Adelaide Hills some hundreds of million years ago, Earth was quite a different place to what we have now. Not only the atmosphere, landscape, fauna, flora, and geography was different, but even time was different. The presentation will explore the nature of Earth when the rocks were created which are now form the Adelaide Hills and follow the history of the Adelaide Hills through time.

BIO

Peter Majewski is currently Research Professor and Research Leader in the Future Industries Institute of the University of South Australia (UniSA). He has a Degree in Geology and a PhD in Mineralogy from the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. After being Senior Scientist and later Deputy Department Head at the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research, Germany, between 1989 and 2002, he started at the University of South Australia in 2003 where he held various positions including Dean Research Education, Associate Head of School in Research, and Head of School of Engineering. His research covers materials science & engineering and nanotechnology, but he never lost his interest in Geology.
