Whether it be a Netflix binge, essay deadlines or online gaming, we tend to think that today’s technology is making us lazier and less active But is this actually the case? In this talk, Lian will explore a more positive view of technology, and how you can use it to help increase your physical activity.

Lian Loke is a senior lecturer in the Design Lab in the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Sydney, and director of the Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts program. Lian’s research is at the nexus of performance, somatics, design and technology, and explores the aesthetics of interaction with the body as a central focus. She has been investigating the lived experience of people interacting with emerging technologies and exploring how to design future products and systems from such understandings. Her research contributes to one of the major issues confronting the built environment – its ability to foster healthy living.
