New York's Next Top Makers shifted from a competition to a community-sourced incubator following a quest in 2013 to better understand the hardware ecosystem of New York City. What better way of doing that than to work hand-in-hand with hardware startups themselves. Next Top Makers, now in its third year, has already incubated a dozen companies and supported hundreds of others, and this year, will scale to reach 70 companies through incubation support.  New accelerators and spaces supporting hardware are regularly opening up. Join Katey discuss how Next Top Makers flipped the traditional incubator model to put NYC on the map for hardware!
