Psychology – a magical ingredient to a brand’s successes

In this talk, consumer psychologist Kate Nightingale will describe how insights from the field of psychology and other behavioural sciences can positively influence various business and creative decisions. How being hungry can make you buy more clothes? How many pictures of a product you should include on a website for best results? What music to play to sell more French wine? What background colour to use in an ad to focus consumers’ attention on technical features of a product? If you’re intrigued and/or work within/with consumer brands, this talk will give you great and fun insight into the inner workings of consumers’ minds.

 

BIO

Kate Nightingale is a consumer, brand and fashion psychologist specialising in retail and hospitality. She has trained in psychology, economics, marketing and fashion. Style Psychology is a consumer behaviour and brand experience consultancy specialising in retail and hospitality. In short, they provide ‘psychological framework for strategic decisions’ to help brands connect with consumers and grow sales.

Kate has also provided guest lectures on MSc Consumer Psychology on London Metropolitan University. In 2014 Kate has been shortlisted for the prestigious Women in Marketing Awards supported by the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She is also often approached by press for comments on consumer behaviour, fashion, retail and hospitality business and appeared in Guardian, The Independent, The Debrief, BBC News Channel and Channel 4.
