What's maths got to do with it?
Can it help us find the perfect date? Do we need to be a brainiac to master maths? Jacqui takes us on a mathematical journey from the maths of dating to the reason why there are 360 degrees in a circle. Hear stories of mathematical oddities and curiosities, and see maths in a whole new light. What’s maths got to do with it? It turns out, everything!
Jacqui Ramagge is the Head of the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney. She is passionate about sharing the beauty of mathematics with a wide audience. Her research crosses mathematical boundaries, bringing insight and innovation to core areas of interest. For example, she used a combination of algebra, geometry and functional analysis to progress the Baum-Connes conjecture. Recently, she has been investigating the structure of totally disconnected, locally compact groups and the classification of equilibrium states on C*-algebras.
