Brexit: Will Britain Quit Europe
Britain is about to take the most decision of the post-war era - whether or not to leave Europe. The referendum on Britain’s future membership of the European Union will be held in 2016 or 2107 after Prime Minister David Cameron has finished renegotiations with 27 other European states to try and persuade them to agree to a new relationship for Britain in Europe which voters will endorse. Dr Denis MacShane is a former minister for Europe and has focused on European politics for 3 decades. He speaks French, German and Spanish and has a wide network of political contacts across the Channel.
His new book Brexit : How Britain Will Leave Europe, argues that there is a confluence of anti-EU forces in British politics, media, business and communities that can easily lead Britain into an isolationist vote to quit Europe.
Dr Denis MacShane was a Labour MP for 18 years and worked as PPS and Minister of State at the FCO between 1997-2005. He was UK delegate to the Council of Europe 2005-2010. He has written books and many articles on European issues.
