In 1973, US psychologist Virginia Schein coined the phrase ‘think manager-think male’ to explain the prevailing and unconscious association we have with leadership and stereotypical male traits. So why, in 2016, do we not ‘think leader-think female’ too? How do we create a world where men and women have equal opportunity to lead and succeed? Amy will debunk myths, share stories from the field and set out the actions we need to take to achieve and get the benefits of gender balanced leadership.
Amy Mullins joined the Women’s Leadership Institute Australia in 2013. She leads and manages the institute, which seeks to increase the visibility of women in leadership and catalyse solutions to achieve gender balanced representation. Amy is also an Advisor to the Male Champions of Change Strategy and a Member of the Advisory Committee for the Pathways to Politics Program for Women at the Melbourne School of Government. Until recently, she was founding Co-Program Director of the Property Male Champions of Change. Amy is passionate about women and men having equal opportunity to thrive and lead in their chosen fields.
